Slug Support at UC Santa Cruz provides compassionate, comprehensive assistance to students navigating personal, financial, or academic challenges that may affect their well-being or success. The program’s dedicated case managers serve as a central point of contact for students in need, as well as for faculty, staff, and family members who are concerned about a student’s welfare.
Case managers work closely with each student to understand their individual circumstances, develop personalized action plans, and connect them with the most appropriate campus and community resources. Whether students are adjusting to college life, managing a personal crisis, or facing unexpected financial hardship, Slug Support ensures that no one has to navigate these challenges alone.
Collaboration is at the heart of the program’s approach. Slug Support works in partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services, Financial Aid, the Disability Resource Center, Academic Advising, Housing, and other campus units to ensure coordinated and effective care. The program also provides emergency financial assistance for essential needs such as food, short-term housing, and other urgent expenses, helping students maintain stability during difficult times.
Through consistent follow-up and encouragement, Slug Support empowers students to stay connected, resilient, and focused on their academic and personal goals.
