Humanizing Technology is a certificate program within The Humanities designed to help students explore the social, ethical, and cultural dimensions of technology. While created with early-career engineering students in mind, the program is open to all UC Santa Cruz undergraduates—and to visiting students during Summer Session.
Through small, discussion-based GE courses, participants examine how technology shapes society and how human values can inform innovation. The program encourages future engineers and technologists to think critically about the choices they make, preparing them to design technologies that serve humanity with integrity and insight.
