Stevenson College
Stevenson is the second oldest college at UC Santa Cruz. With dedicated faculty, staff, and alumni support, the college maintains a living tradition of what has been taught since its founding. For almost 60 years, Stevenson has embodied its theme, Self and Society, emphasizing the goals of both self-understanding and active participation in one‘s community.
WIth the generous support of donors, Stevenson College is able to offer students scholarships and transformational opportunities including:
- The Stevenson Professional and Academic Network (SPAN)
- SPAN provides opportunities for students to network with alumni, professionals, non-profits, academic researchers, and other Stevenson students. Students connected to SPAN also earn the chance to work one on one with UCSC faculty members with research apprenticeships.
- The John Halverson Scholarship
- Established by Steveson founding faculty member John L. Halverson, the scholarship is awarded to first-year students who are interested in issues that affect the ABC community.
- The Robert Dodge Student Service Award
- Established by alumnus Robert Dodge (Stevenson ’69, politics), the scholarship supports Stevenson College students who partner with community organizations and actively participate in service projects.
“Stevenson College acts as a catalyst for students’ academic interests. My job and our college’s job academically is to make connections to other students in their core class, to faculty in the form of faculty speakers, research opportunities, colloquia, to alumni, to off-campus non-profits, to professionals.“
—Matt O’Hara, Stevenson College Provost
