Crown College
Founded in 1967 as the third college in the UC Santa Cruz system, Crown College’s theme, Science and Technology in Society, explores the relationship between science and technology with the world around us. Through philanthropy, Crown College is able to offer students courses in communications and media, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, and a chance for students to develop professionally no matter their major.
For Crown College, small class instruction is central to its educational approach, offering opportunities to engage with the college community and build relationships with faculty. Many of these classes are made possible through donor support, including:
- Theory and Practices for a Purposeful Life
- GetVirtual Business Assistance
- Introduction to Broadcast Media and Podcasting
- Digital Theater Workshop: Theorizing Culture and Future
“Our role is to expand opportunity—offering experiences students might not otherwise have and helping them gain the transferable skills that lead to meaningful careers. Our programs open doors, and our lecturers bring local connections. That’s where the college makes a difference.”
—Manel Camps, Crown College Provost (2014–2025)
Through the generosity of donors, Crown College continues to provide students with transformative learning experiences that extend far beyond the classroom. By supporting Crown College philanthropically, you can help ensure that future generations of students can thrive academically, professionally, and personally, carrying forward the college’s legacy of innovation and interdisciplinary learning.
