International and Global Perspectives
Tile Program funding helps:
- Annual Practical Activism: A day-long, student-led program of speakers and workshops on local and global issues, with more than 300 participants.
- Ongoing, formal debate series, covering such topics as the War in Iraq and Immigration
- Co-sponsor of “Illuminating Dialogues: Palestinian and Israeli Perspectives in a Time of Crisis,” a four-part lecture series, Fall 2007
- Annual Cesar Chavez Convocation. Keynote Speaker, AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Maria Elena Durazo
- Alternative Spring Break. In 2007, 25 students helped build houses in Tecate, Mexico.
- Esprit de Corps, a service learning program in which students learn about the community from local leaders and then work in different community organizations.
