What is the Senior Legacy Fund?

The Senior Legacy Fund is the only student-initiated, student-supported, and student-distributed scholarship at UC Santa Cruz. Each year, seniors contribute to the fund and use the proceeds to award scholarships to students who represent the four tenets of S.L.U.G. life (Spirit, Legacy, Unity, and Giving). In 2012, the graduating class was able to award scholarships of $2,500 each to three returning students. The Class of 2013 started an endowment that will help fund student philanthropy programs for years to come. This year, the Class of 2017 will leave their legacy by awarding scholarships to current students, if you want to help the fundraising efforts for the Class of 2017, email seniors@ucsc.edu.

Why should I make a gift to the Senior Legacy Fund?

Minimize the Cost of Education!
As you know, being a student is expensive. The Senior Legacy Fund is one way for students to support fellow banana slugs in need. Scholarships help students pay for tuition, books, housing, food, and other necessary expenses.

It’s a Tradition!
There is a longstanding tradition of alumni giving back to UC Santa Cruz. This support is one of the main reasons UC Santa Cruz maintains its excellence. We need our future alumni to carry on this tradition and help keep UC Santa Cruz on top.

Gratitude
Show your appreciation for your excellent education and the experiences you had as a student by making a gift back to the campus you love.

Maintain the Value of Your Degree!
The percentage of alumni that support their alma mater helps to determine US News and World Report national university rankings. The more student and alumni support we receive, the higher the value of your degree.
