The Austin Plummer Memorial Award at KZSC was created in 2013 to commemorate Austin Plummer's love of music, to perpetuate his unbridled enthusiasm to help students at the radio station, and to honor the `pay it forward' philosophy that Austin demonstrated so many times in his young life. This annual award will support one to three UCSC students volunteering at KZSC radio station. Typical awards range from $500 to $3500 per student per year, allowing them to gain valuable radio experiences and pursue their creative passions in an extraordinary broadcast setting.

Established in 1998 in honor of Ruth Barati's husband, George Barati (1913-96). Born in Gyor, Hungary, George Barati was a complete musician-conductor, composer, performer. The scholarship is awarded by the Department of Music at UCSC to a promising music major whose principal instrument is the cello. It is the intent of the donor that the scholarship be awarded to an incoming freshman and that the award be part of the financial aid package designed to recruit and a retain a cellist to play in the Resident String Quartet Ensemble.

Wilderness Orientation Scholarship Fund
Your gift will support scholarships for incoming undergraduate students to participate in the Recreation Dept. Wilderness Orientation program. This is offered prior to the school year in August and September with 7 or 10 day sessions in back packing or kayaking. Students prepare for their college experience with experienced instructors who teach them outdoor skills, as well as provide the opportunity to form new friendships and discuss their hopes and fears about entering college. Cost is $550 - $650 per person.

Established in 1986, this visual arts fund provides scholarship opportunities for both undergraduate students known as Irwin Scholars, as well as fellowships for graduate students known as Irwin Fellows. Said students are pursuing visual arts in the realms of painting, sculpting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, lithography, drawing, etching, silk-screening, graphic arts, design, history and appreciation of arts, and architecture at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Each scholarship/fellowship is awarded a minimum of $2,500 for the year, intended to provide funds for tuition, materials, and book fees.
