UCSC Parent Programs
The UCSC community is as inclusive as it is diverse. UCSC Parent Programs provide a
place for the whole family to follow their Banana Slug’s experience from freshman
year through graduation.
Because UCSC alumni are Banana Slugs for a lifetime, it only makes sense that parents
are family, too. Parent Programs seeks volunteers interested participating in:
Leadership
Parents interested in leadership at UCSC
can join the UCSC Parent Council or the
UCSC Foundation Board of Trustees.
Participation in the Parent Council will
encompass a wide variety of events and
fundraising opportunities. Trustees are
the philanthropic leaders of UCSC’s campus.
"UCSC, with its college system, really does combine the advantages of a small liberal arts
college with those of a large research university.
Departments consist of dozens of professors in any given field, as in
a large research university, but student interaction with these
professors is easy and welcomed, which would be unusual even in a much
smaller college. Combine that with the most gorgeous campus in
America, and close-enough proximity to San Francisco and the Bay Area,
and you have an unbeatable combination. I loved it when I got my
undergraduate degree there, and now my son loves it just as much, if
not more!"
