Tremain "Tre" Jones, who recently graduated with his bachelor's degree in Anthropology, travelled to Borneo with a UC Santa Cruz group conducting research on orangutans. The project offered a chance to do research and to publish, which is important because Tre plans to attend medical school and then to pursue a career of research in social medicine. During his time at UCSC, Tre, a dedicated youth mentor, advised younger people in his volunteer job at the City of Santa Cruz Teen Center. "I love UC Santa Cruz and I love the city of Santa Cruz, and this is a way I can give back to the community."
